Cigarette and cannabis odour
These two are what hotels, condos and rental car fleets call us about most, because scrubbing simply does not remove them.
Cigarette odour
Smoke carries tar and nicotine onto every porous surface — curtains, carpet, mattresses, pillows, ceiling panels, and most importantlyinside the air-conditioning system Turn the air on and the smell is blown straight back out.
Washing the curtains and spraying only treats the surface. What sits deep in the fibres and inside the ducts is untouched, so the smell returns within days.
Cannabis odour
Clings harder than cigarette smoke, because the smell comes fromterpenes— aromatic oils that bind to surfaces and textiles more readily, and which a lot of people are especially sensitive to.
Hotels and condos hit the same problem: the room is free but cannot be sold, because the next guest smells it the moment the door opens.
Why ozone works here
Because it is a gas, it moves into curtain fibres, mattress filling, air ducts and the space above the ceiling — where the smell actually sits — and breaks the odour molecules down there, rather than covering them with a new scent. When the job is done the gas reverts to oxygen, leaving no residue to wipe off.
What you should know about safety
Treatment at the concentrations used for odour removal must be carried out with no people or pets in the space and the space must be ventilated for the specified time before anyone goes back in
Our team sets the treatment and ventilation times from the room size and posts do-not-enter signs while we work. We do not accept jobs that require treating a space while people are inside it.
Cigarette and cannabis odour treatment in homes

Pet odour after the pet is gone
The pet has gone but the smell has not. Owners usually discover this when they are about to re-let or sell — often at the moment a prospective tenant walks in and their face changes.
Why cleaning does not fix it
Pet odour is not on the surfaces you can wipe. It soaks into layers you cannot see.
- Urine soaks under the floor — into tile grout, under laminate boards and into the screed below. The top scrubs up clean while the source stays underneath.
- Fabric and upholstery hold it — sofas, mattresses, curtains and carpet trap the smell deeper in the fibres than washing reaches.
- Hair and dander get into the ducts — switch the air on and the smell is blown back through the whole room. That is why everything gets cleaned and the smell still returns.
- Proteins in saliva and urine — these are what trigger symptoms in people allergic to animals, even when there is no visible hair left.
Why odour products do not hold
Most products work by masking. Once the fragrance fades the original smell is back at full strength — and sometimes the fragrance mixed with the animal smell is worse than before.
Ozone is a gas, so it reaches anywhere air reaches — into upholstery fibres, air ducts, behind skirting boards and along floor joints — and breaks the odour molecules down right there instead of covering them.

Preparing the room before treatment
- Remove the litter tray, pet bedding and toys completely — if they stay, the smell comes back from them.
- Vacuum and mop first, especially in corners and under furniture.
- Leave cupboards, drawers and the bathroom door open.
- Take off cushion covers and pillowcases and spread them out — no need to wash them.
- Move any other pets, fresh food and plants out of the area.
If urine has already soaked under wooden flooring or into the screed treatment helps a great deal, but in some cases it will not clear it completely, because the source is no longer in the air. We will tell you straight at the survey whether flooring needs to come up. We do not over-promise to win the job.
Treatment is carried out only when no animals are in the space — small animals, birds and fish are more sensitive to ozone than people. All of them must be moved out before we start, and the space ventilated for the specified time before they come back.
How long does it take?
A normal-sized condo unit is usually finished within a day, ventilation included. Nothing has to be stripped out, nothing repainted, and the unit is not closed for a week — in time to hand over to the next tenant or buyer.
